2008 No Toes Red

2008 No Toes RedBright red/purple in colour, this blend features a juicy aroma of nettle and plum, a suggestion of earth, blackberry and a hint of vanilla bean.

The blackberry continues on the palate with cassis and spice. The finish is warm and lingering.

The well established blend, of 25% Shiraz, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Chambourcin – No Toes Red 2008 vintage won a Bronze Medal at 2011 Kiama Regional Wine Show.

This vintage carries flavours of red currents, dark plums and vanilla after being in oak for 18 months.  The finish is warm and lingering. This wine compliments curries, game, chicken and all meat dishes, especially with young lamb.  Recommended cellaring for 3-6 years or enjoy now.  12.1% Alcohol.

The grapes are grown and hand harvested at Bawley Vale Estate, Bawley Point. This follows the success of the 2010 South Coast Wine Show when No Toes Red 2008 was awarded a Bronze Medal.

For the ones, who are not surfers nor are familiar with Bawley Points surfing culture, the wine is named after “No Toes” a surfingbreak off Juwin Head between Cormorant and Gannet Beaches at Bawley Point where waves surge from very deep water before they hit an underwater rocks shelf. One of the local stories is that to take off on these waves a surfer needs to balance on the back of the board, toes hanging over the edge.
